Scottish Hockey Regional Performance Squads

Scottish Hockey Regional Performance Squads

These sessions are run in every Region across Scotland by selected Performance Programme coaches for those players in the Region who “are really committed to improve and want to represent Scotland at senior level”

It was Scottish Hockey’s aim to broaden the number of potential senior International players and provide more players with weekly coaching. Scottish Hockey identifies and supports players that are capable of playing at the very highest level and support them to a greater extent much earlier in their development.

The current squads (Performance and Development) are made up from senior school players who have been selected from Youth U14, U16 and U18 District squads. Players DO NOT need to be selected for a national team in order to be selected for the Performance Programme.

The Regional Performance Coach may bring in other players who demonstrate a growth mindset, full programme commitment and a high level of hockey playing ability as stated in the ’Selection for the Performance Programme and Youth National Squads 2012-13’

Training for these two groups takes place twice weekly at Tweedbank
